Mrs. Amy Hopkins

My name is Mrs. Hopkins and this is my 11th year teaching science to students at the secondary level.  During the 2016-2017 school year,  I will be teaching middle school 6th grade & 7th grade Integrated science (life, physical, & earth science). I currently hold a Professional Education Certificate to instruct Integrated Science, Biology, and Health to students at the secondary level in Michigan.  Additionally, I hold a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University and I am working towards a second Masters degree in Science Education from Lawrence Tech.  I absolutely love teaching students about science, the natural world around them.   Furthermore, I am excited to be apart of the CC-C school district and influence students to be responsible members of society.

Some other information about myself is that I am originally from a rural town near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  After high school, I received a full academic-athletic scholarship to Central Michigan University where I majored in Biology and gained valuable experience as a Division-I field hockey athlete.  Next, my husband and I relocated to the Mojave Desert in Southern California to start our teaching careers after graduating from CMU.  There I taught science and health for seven years and became Teacher of the Year in 2010-2011.  Three years ago, we relocated back to Michigan to be near extended family.  I have a daughter, Zoey, who is 4 years old and keeps us on our toes!
