Mrs. Sarah Ross-Koves

I have a B.S. degree in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University with majors in English, History, and Social Studies and a minor in Speech/Dramatic Arts.  I graduated from CMU in December of 2003.  I added a Social Studies major from Spring Arbor University in 2010, and I earned my Masters of the Arts in Education through Spring Arbor University in August of 2012.  I am also a member of the National Writing Project through Tip of the Mit Red Cedar Writing Project and am trained as a teacher consultant.
In January of 2003 I went to work for an arts and technology charter school, Northwest Academy, in Charlevoix, MI.  I taught English and Social Studies classes for grades 7-12 there for two years.  In the summer of 2005 I was hired by Onaway Area Schools where I taught mostly 7th grade English and World Studies until I was laid off due to budge cuts in 2009.  I currently teach 11th and 12th grade English and AP Psychology at Carson City-Crystal High School in Carson City, MI.  I started the Advance Placement program here five years ago, and it has grown to over seventy- five students.  I also was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2011.
My parents are an important part of my life, and my father was a math teacher for years.  I married my husband, Steven, in August of 2006.  We have two daughters, Alanna and Kelsie.  I enjoy spending time reading and sewing.  I quilt every winter.  I spend a lot of time with my family, including my brothers, their significant others, and their children.  I am a very organized person, and I like those around me to be as well.
